So, what's the protocol for when a warden shoots an inmate? Or, specifically, their inmate?

[OOC: In reference to him shooting Mindy like a week ago with no comment at all. HE KIND OF FINDS THAT DISTURBING. And sorry for the fail post, I'm just sort of easing back into RP, and APPARENTLY MY BRAIN'S NOT READY YET.]

It was just a flu. I take it there hasn't been any improvement on the memories?

The Barge doesn't really do the whole "just a flu" thing. Are you sure you didn't start craving human flesh or something?

And not really anything new with the memories, but.. I figured it's probably like, a moot point at this stage anyway. If I haven't found something by now, I'm probably not going to.

How important is it, for you? Will it make any difference, truly remembering, as opposed to just knowing?

I'm sure it would be fun to discuss my abandonment issues and all, but I think I'd rather pass. I'll save that for my own warden.

Just make sure you only eat the weak and sickly so that there's no superheroes running around as zombie or whatever.

Yeah. It would. I need to know what he was feeling when he pulled the trigger and he can't tell me that.. but again with the whole "no progress" thing.

You know that there's no guarantee of that, don't you? I mean... Even if you recovered every memory that's been forcibly suppressed, there's still the chance that you won't know anymore about him than you did before.

Well sure there's no guarantee, but I feel like it could make a big difference. If I knew the expression on his face when he looked at me right before it happened, it might like, sway me one way or the other about another situation involving him. I know it's not 100%, but I wish I had the chance, you know?

Which methods have you tried so far? Therapy, hypnosis, anything else?

Therapy, structured recollection, hypnosis, reading, comparison and Rorschach stuff.. The closest I got was the nightmares, but I couldn't really control those and it wasn't like I could remember the details when I woke up anyway.

If the nightmares are your best bet... Have you ever heard of lucid dreaming?

Sure. It's when you like, remember your dreams in great detail or whatever, right?

Right. And it affords you some control over your dreams, which is especially useful in the case of nightmares. There are ways of training your mind to lucid dreaming techniques. [AND IF THAT FAILS, there's always extraction.] If you think that'll help.

I guess we could try it? But the Barge isn't really the type to let you remember things it doesn't want you to remember. I mean, I know it's my own mind, but it's not like I'm choosing to suppress it out of trauma. I'll give it a try, but I just don't really expect it to work. I expect to wake up and forget all over again.

Repression isn't necessarily a choice. You could have all the right intentions, but there may be something in your mind that's completely opposed to the idea-- a sort of... unresolved tension that you may not even be aware of. Are you certain it's the Admiral?

The person with me couldn't remember either and the only thing any of the memory losses had in common was death.. either people died or saw someone die. Those are the only people that forgot anything and only for those very specific periods of time.

I've done the research, Arthur. If you have an idea to help me, great. If you don't, let me keep trying on my own.. But trust me to know more about the Barge than you do.

[MAN Arthur hates being out of his element. There's an irritated pause before he decides to just push forward.] Does your warden know anything about this? Not the memory repression, but the methods you've tried to resolve it.

He knows a little. A different warden knows about all of it so far, because my warden was absent for awhile and I'm not stupid enough to trust most of the inmates here without having someone to look out for me.

If I had an idea, I'd have to clear it with him first. [And he normally wouldn't suggest this, BUT YOU LOOK LIKE ARIADNE, so you get special treatment.]

Wouldn't you want to clear it with me first? Because if I don't want to do it, there's no use worrying other wardens.

Thanks, but no thanks. I don't really do that whole prisoner thing. I mean, I would tell him, because that's how I am.. but I don't like feeling like I have to talk to my friend to be able to try some new way to gain my own personal memories.

I don't think it's asking too much to be able to talk to your warden before we start anything. That's even assuming my suggestion sounds at all appealing to you. But if you're not interested, that's fine.
