.048 | SPAM FOR ALICE MORGAN // backdated to start of flood // Perry and others welcome, too!

[Talk about shitty timing for a flood. With things as rocky as they were with Perry, now was so not the time for the Admiral to throw another inmate at him. Arthur looked at his item, checking it for the, what, hundredth time, as he followed his instinct (or flood-mandated yearning for closeness) all the way to Alice Morgan. He'd seen her around before, knew Capa spent some time with her, knew her alternate reality self erred on the side of complete passivity, but that was about it. There wasn't much on the network to go on, unfortunately. Arthur pocketed his item-- a smartphone-- once he found his... new and probably temporary inmate.]

Alice Morgan?

[OOC: NOOOTTTTT quite sure if he knows about her and Capa being pals, so that bit may be deleted once I find out.]

SPAM and THANK YOU for putting this up, you are the best

[Alice had been repressing the sense of needing to be somewhere else - with someone else - to the detriment of, well, everything else she might have been getting on with. He found her on deck, reading a dense cosmology text without actually digesting anything. It was only when a shadow cast across the page that the sense of unease faded. She looked up and smiled beatifically.]

Arthur. To what do I owe the pleasure?

SPAM - no problems at all ma'am <3

Actually, until you arrived I was finding I couldn't concentrate in the slightest. And I am ordinarily - very focused. [She closed the book and put it to one side on the bench.] The flood, I should imagine. Pull up a pew, won't you?

Nice to know that there's an equivalent here to shaking one's fist at the heavens, for those that need it. [She gave him a sidelong glance.] I hear you're a friend of Robert's.

[And possibly more than that, given Capa's publicly stated ability to differentiate between Arthur and his counterpart's naked bodies.]

He's a very intelligent man. I admire him. [She leaned back a little, lacing her fingers together in her lap.] So. What did you do before you packed it in for something more thankless and metaphysical?

Yes, at UCL. [She gave his outfit a sidelong glance.] I know it's in bad taste to ask, but how much do they pay research librarians, where you're from?

[Perry hadn't been looking for Arthur--there was still too much shit swirling around in his head from the things he'd learned about the guy in the mirrorverse. But he saw his warden in the dining hall, second inmate in tow, and well, there were no empty tables and no one else he particularly wanted to sit with. Arthur was better than most of the other choices.]

Two inmates, huh? I'll bet you're real pleased about that.

[identity profile] likedarkmatter.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Alice waved, giving a cheery little waggle of her fingertips.]

Lovely to meet you, Perry. [She made a gesture to the free seats at the table.] Are you staying?
hatestriangles: (well you asked for it)

[personal profile] hatestriangles 2011-08-31 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Perry shrugged, twisting his neck to make the bones crack.]

Sure. Why not? [He sat across from her, looking her over.] I don't think I've seen you around. So who are you normally saddled with, princess?

[identity profile] likedarkmatter.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
Claire Bennet. She's a nice enough girl. [She glanced at Arthur.] And how long have the two of you...?
hatestriangles: (no seriously thanks though)

EH, close enough

[personal profile] hatestriangles 2011-09-01 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
Too damn long. [Perry replies at the same time as Arthur's answer, eyes narrowing just a little at his warden. He's got a lot of feelings about Arthur right now.]

TENTATIVE MONDAY NIGHT SPAM

[identity profile] likedarkmatter.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
[It was late. Maybe even edging into 'early'. Alice was lying in the dark, eyes starting to discern shapes in the near-blackness. Not a heavy sleeper at the best of times, she hadn't really remembered falling asleep or waking up and could only assume she had from the fact she felt rather more well-rested.

Five feet was not a long way: she could hear Arthur's breathing. It didn't have the deep evenness of sleep to it.]

If it's any consolation, I doubt anyone is sleeping much tonight,

[OOC: III hope a second, later thread is okay. :C You weren't around to ask. I wept.]

MONDAY NIGHT SPAM

[identity profile] likedarkmatter.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Alice laughed softly, for just a moment longer than the comment warranted, then let the silence expand to fill the room again.]

Do you dream much, Arthur?

MONDAY NIGHT SPAM

[identity profile] likedarkmatter.livejournal.com 2011-08-31 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I must. I seem to get all my best ideas when I'm sleeping.

You do surprise me. I would have thought you'd find sleep very productive.

[On the other hand Alice's tone was light and playful, almost gossipy.]

And that would certainly be the case if you worked while you slept, but I think it would be more accurate to say that you sleep when you work.
