Someone want to tell me what the hell happened? Not the short version; I want the details.

[As soon as he gets his answers, Arthur heads over to Perry's room and knocks on the door. Between Perry's coma and Arthur's temporary departure from the Barge, a meeting's long overdue.]

[OOC: For reference, Arthur disappeared shortly into the Reboot event because he either got sucked out a window or sucked out of one of the panels.]

[Perry answers the door quickly enough. He'd been on his way out, heading up to the kitchen for something to eat. He smiles -- a hard, small smile but still.] Hey, warden. Long time no see.

[Arthur gives him a brief, wry smile in return.] Yeah, the Barge seems to like keeping us apart these days. Mind if I come in?

[Perry shrugs.] Sure, I guess. I was going to see what the kitchen had on offer. We talking about anything in particular, or is this just a catch-up?

Just a catch up. You were out for a long time. Were you awake when everything went to hell?

Nope, slept right through it. [His voice has a hint of anger but it's not directed at Arthur. He moves back inside to let Arthur into the motel room too.] I heard about it though, that Japanese warden chick going all psycho dictator on the place. Sounds pretty fucked up.

[Arthur moves inside, taking a quick glance around.] It wasn't too bad at first. [He shrugs.] Except for the changes to Level 0. And the getting sucked out into space.

[He looks at Perry.]

How're you taking things? We haven't had a chance to talk much since the rabies outbreak.

[Perry waves a hand at the little table and rickety-looking chairs, meaning Arthur can take a seat if he wants, then sits heavily on the end of the bed with his elbows resting on his knees.] You had to remind me of that, huh?

I woke up less than a week ago. I hate the comas but there's fuck all I can do about 'em. [He shakes his head.] My biggest problem so far was wondering if I was going have to start this stupid process all over again with some new guy if you didn't show up.

Well, it was a pretty big deal. [Arthur sits down on one of the chairs.]

You think it would've set you back if I was gone for good? [Or are you at a stable place now?]

[Pause. Perry shifts uncomfortably.]

We've been paired for a long freaking time, man. You know my shit.

Yeah. [Pause.] What about progress? Do you think you've come a long way?

[It would be easy for him to just give a dismissive, flippant reply, but he's been thinking about this lately. There's another pause. He looks at his hands.]

I have changed. [That's a big thing for him to acknowledge, even if it may not sound like it.] I'm not the same guy who woke up here way back when. Hell, I don't think I'm the same guy who came back after being on the road with Dew and Margo and the crew.

It's something; I don't know if it's progress.

It is something. I'd call it progress.

[Arthur smiles slightly.]

We're not even hitting each other as much as we used to.

[Perry snorts, joking:] Don't tempt me.

[A short pause, then he glances back down to his hands, rubbing his palm with his thumb.] How far do you think I've come, Arthur?

[Arthur leans forward a little.] I think you've come a long way from when we met. But we've still got a ways to go. [You know, what with you still freaking out over aliens.] What would you do if somebody came to the Barge with Triangles?

I'd know the moment they woke up. I'd hear them. [He shakes his head, expression grim.] I'm not going to get to a point where I say I won't do anything. You expect me to say I wouldn't do something and we're both going to be here for a long time.

I wouldn't expect you to do nothing. [Arthur rubs the back of his neck.] The question is: would you do something to save the people here, or would it be because you thought they were weak, that they'd given up?

Is doing something because I hate the little blue fuckers an option? [He's not necessarily talking about killing the host right now but that's not particularly clear.]

Depends on what that something is.

I'd-- If they got close to me I don't know what I'd do. They're still dangerous, man.

They are. But you're not alone here; there are geniuses, scientists. And wizards and angels. There are people who've got your back, who can help. [JUST LIKE BACK HOME, HINT HINT.]

They don't know them. [That sounds weak, even to him. He fidgets.]

They could learn if you gave them the chance.

Warden Toshiko Sato used her dataport in her Engine Room duties. Rather than admit that it was her tampering that had altered the ship- inadvertent or intentional, she didn't acknowledge her involvement until three days of escalation. In the meantime the conditions in Zero were actively torturous.

[He sends Arthur recordings from both the "Admiral" and Toshiko, but none of the piles of debating. He'll let Arthur wade through that as necessary.]

She has been demoted. Apparently several people disappeared off the ship, some lost a sense rather than disappearing for any amount of time.

Megamind graduated because of some of the decisions he had to make and Toshiko has been demoted and her implant deactivated. Currently a medical team is negotiating ways to examine it to ensure it is actually deactivated. Additional punishments are being debated. I've opted to stay out of it the proceedings as much as possible because of personal bias.

How are you feelin'?

Thanks. I'm feeling... better, now that I know who I am again. It sounds like I got off easy in this whole debacle.

[He cuts the transmission to listen to the recordings, then comes back.]

I have to admit, of all the potential suspects, I never expected this from her.

If she's an inmate now, shouldn't any additional punishment be up to whoever's assigned to her? [Arthur's not big on communal wardening.]

It's sure as hell not up to me. [Kay isn't either, but Kay is also really angry with her.]

I didn't suspect it was her, either. Not until right before Megamind told me, and then it was just an inkling. I knew she had a problem a while back, tried to get her help for it.

At least it's kinda nice knowin' what skin you're in, again.

Yeah. And I'm pretty attached to this skin.

How'd you fare in all this?

Just mad. But I figure I'll be doin' everyone a favor if I start thinkin' ahead instead of dwelling on the mad.

How's Perry?

He's doing all right-- considering. I don't think the coma's sitting well with him.

How many has that man been through?

I don't even know anymore. In a way, it's kind of a relief. I don't have to hold him back from getting revenge on Tosh, since he wasn't even awake for what she did.

Well, I'm not paired up right now. So if you want me to help you with anything I'm available.

Shall I congratulate you, or...? [He hasn't had a chance to catch up on the Network yet, so news of Megamind's graduation hasn't reached him. He's just hoping it's a graduation instead of a disappearance.]

I'm not too fond of the conditions that led up to it, so I guess congratulate Megamind and the people that are gonna be helped out by it.

I think you fell overboard. Are you alright?

I didn't so much fall as get yanked out.
