[Thank god Arthur's all grown up again. He's recording from his cabin, which is looking a little trashed, but is clearly in the process of a cleanup.]

I think that was, hands down, the most embarrassing flood the Barge has ever thrown at me. I'll take being four-legged and furry over being thirteen again any day.

[Awkward pause. Okay, time to just man up and apologize. He clears his throat.]

Sorry to everyone I ran into. [Especially Narvin.] I was a pain in the ass at that age. [He shrugs.] Hormones.

I'll clean up the... [And now he looks a little embarrassed. Is that a wince?] doors I egged now.

[Private to Perry]
You know, you weren't a bad kid. [Starting this off by saying something nice... And now:] Come by my cabin after dinner. We're due for a talk.

[OOC: Threads with teen Arthur are still playing out (and I need to tag into a few) and will be hit up this evening, but I wanted to get this up in a relatively timely manner. Anyway, feel free to say your door was one of the ones he egged, if you feel so inclined.]

[Sorry, that flood kind of brought up weird conflicting feelings so he's not going to reply to that right now. Instead:] What are we talking about?

The flood. Unless you have something on your mind that you wanted to talk about, then we could talk about that instead.

[Sigh.] Fine. I'll be there.

[And he does turn up after dinner to knock on Arthur's door, though he's not particularly pleased about it.]

[That was easy. Honestly, Arthur was expecting more of a fight. At the sound of knocking, he opens the door, and lets Perry in.]

Hey. [He waves to the couch and chairs.] Make yourself at home.

[By this point in their rocky relationship, Perry knows-- even if it gives him some small satisfaction-- that trying to avoid Arthur when the warden wants a chat is inevitably futile. And, as he isn't really in the mood for expending pointless effort tonight, here he is. He nods and moves in to take a seat on the couch.]

I'm here. [Obviously.] So shoot. What wisdom do you want to impart about that trip down memory lane?

[Arthur moves to sit on the adjacent chair. For once, no drinks are offered. He's certain he doesn't want to introduce alcohol into what's probably going to be a difficult enough conversation. He holds up his hands.]

No wisdom. I'm still working through that bullshit myself. [He shrugs a little.] I thought we could work through it together.

Was that your first time away from your parents?

[Perry regards Arthur for a moment, kind of sceptically. He's wary but he'd like the conversation to get a move on, and for Arthur to just say whatever it is he's going to say, so he spreads his arms out along the back of the couch with a sigh. He doesn't look the warden in the eye.]

Yeah. Probably. I didn't really spend any time away until I was a teenager.

What did you think of it?

I was a dumb kid, what does it matter? [He grimaces without realising it.] Or are you talking about what I think of the flood now?

It does matter. Your childhood shapes who you become. Even if the flood didn't change anything, it can offer some new insight, help you see things in a different light.

Oh yeah? So what insight did you get out of it?

Need help? Two will get it done faster. [And then they can cuddle.]

I won't say no to help.

Good. And I won't say no to your company later.

[She sort of offers him a lopsided smile.]

You know, as much of a jerk as you were... you still thought I was cute, didn't you?

Yeah. [He laughs.] But I had a funny way of showing it.

I hope I didn't hurt your feelings too much.

Kids do, though. Especially ones with a chip on their shoulder.

[She ducks her head a little.] Well, maybe my over-sensitive, thirteen-year-old self got her feelings hurt. But you know. Hormones.

I'll make it up to you. It'll be a surprise.

Boy am I glad you grew up and learned how to sweet-talk girls.

Did you end up drinking that wine? I was planning to 'accidentally' spill the bottle, or try to drink most of it myself.

No, I thought I'd go for some light vandalism.

Thanks for looking out for me. I know I wasn't at my most charming.

[Well. It was better than their interaction two Halloweens ago when they turned into their costumes.]
